“You are the kindest person I’ve ever met.”

“You were my first friend at school” 

“You are so life-giving to be around”

“You remember and ask about things I mentioned 2 weeks ago.”

“You are the most intentional person I know”

These are some of the things people shared about Kelly last week at her “send off” party as she prepares to serve as a “sent one” vocationally overseas.

People like Kelly are the kind of people we pray God forms students into.

At Kelly’s “Hooding Ceremony” (graduation as a doctor of Physical Therapy), she received the Outstanding Service Award, which is not an award for hours of service per se, but recognition of character. (To me, there’s no award more prestigious.)

What does it look like to be a “sent one” in the world today?

Maybe it looks like an “intentional” “life-giving” friend who comes alongside “the poor in spirit” to help them walk with and be formed by God.

That’s a life worth living.
