Kirby (a grad student) has been processing a very difficult relationship—her relationship with her dad.
Tragically and suddenly, Kirby’s dad died this summer.
Kirby feels the loss of her dad; but one of the losses she will not have to experience is the pain of regret—things she wished she would have said or done.
Over the last 2 years, Kirby has worked to come to a place of genuine forgiveness. More than that, she pursued restoration.
In doing so, Kirby has revealed Christ to her dad in a way that no sermon or book ever could.
“Forgiveness gave us the gift of being close again. When I think about my relationship with my dad, I feel an overwhelming mix of gratitude for the love we shared, sorrow for the time we lost, and peace knowing that we had a bond that was rebuilt again before he passed.”
Perhaps you've heard comments or questions, like following:
"How can Jesus—someone who died over 2,000 years ago—be relevant to anyone's life today?"
Is Jesus relevant???
He was relevant to Kirby.
And he mattered to Kirby’s relationship with her dad.
Insofar as any relationship is important, so too will Jesus be.
In a world permeated with painful and broken relationships, Jesus is as relevant as he’s ever been.
