Sociologically significant surveys have revealed a resurgence of spiritual openness––one that is shaping this next generation.
“What was it like growing up in a Christian family in India?” Anna asked.
Harshitha, a graduate student, began to cry as she shared about the persecution Believers face [in India]—including how she personally knew a pastor who was crucified for his faith.
Her story was sobering and deeply moving.
After summer break, Anna reached out to reconnect with Harshitha, and she replied:
“I have amazing news, Anna. I’ll tell you when you’re on campus. Can’t wait! :)”
When Anna saw her, she was brimming with joy.
Harshitha had just been baptized! Her eyes teared up as she shared about her decision. She was glowing.
Later Harshitha invited her friend, Sravya, to Fall Retreat. While there Sravya met a student, Laasya, and Laasya was wrestling between Hinduism and Christianity.
Sravya shared about her own faith journey with Laasya and helped Laasya process some of her questions about Jesus.
When Sravya found Anna outside—she was noticeably happy. Sravya was so happy to make a new friend and be a part of her friend's spiritual journey!
This story is a tiny glimpse of what’s happening on campus. Do you see it?
Students are coming to faith, going to church, getting baptized, reaching out to friends, making new friends, sharing about their personal faith journeys with others, etc.
This generation is spiritually open. And interest in the person of Jesus is significant.
